Role Purpose
As a Disability Support Worker at Better n Beyond, you will provide tailored, on-site support to individuals with disabilities, including those with high-care needs, promoting their well-being and independence. You will assist with personal care, daily living activities, and community engagement, ensuring clients achieve their NDIS plan goals. Through collaboration with families, management, and other stakeholders, you will help create an empowering environment for clients to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support
* Provide specialised assistance for clients with high physical and complex-care needs, including mobility support, complex health management, mealtime management support and/or equipment use.
* Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting, hygiene, grooming, and other high-care needs, ensuring dignity and privacy are maintained.
* Support daily living activities, such as meal preparation, budgeting, shopping, household chores, and transportation.
* Deliver individualized, culturally appropriate care to clients, respecting their unique needs and goals as outlined in their NDIS plans.
* Foster a safe and positive environment, implementing Positive Behavior Support (PBS) plans to enhance clients' physical and emotional well-being.
* Encourage and enable participation in community activities, social events, and recreational pursuits to promote social inclusion and independence.
Collaboration and Communication
* Liaise effectively with clients, families, and other support staff to ensure coordinated and person-centered care.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals, therapists, and stakeholders to address clients' holistic needs and facilitate their progress.
* Maintain open communication with management, embracing feedback and participating in regular reviews to optimize support services.
Administration and Compliance
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, progress, and incidents in compliance with Better n Beyond's policies and procedures.
* Ensure adherence to the NDIS Code of Conduct, organizational guidelines, and all relevant legislative requirements.
Professional Development
* Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and understanding of best practices in disability support, including high-care needs and NDIS standards.
* Embrace feedback for upskilling and applying new knowledge to daily responsibilities from management and care team.

Qualifications/skills/experiences
* NDIS worker screening is mandatory.
* Qualifications and experience in nursing and mental health would be highly desirable.
* Experience and Qualifications in Disability Support, Individual Support, Personal Care, Social Work, Humanitarian Services, or related fields (including current students).
* Valid unrestricted driver's license mandatory and experience driving accessible vehicles/vans highly desirable.
* Flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including sleepovers, active night shifts, and both long and short shifts.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Positive, reliable, and responsible attitude, with a commitment to respecting client choices and promoting independence.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Knowledge of NDIS safeguarding principles and best practices.
* Female support workers are strongly encouraged to apply.
Desirable:
* Experience supporting clients with Autism, ADHD, mental health and high physical support needs.
* Holds an unrestricted NT driver's licence and is able to drive a wheelchair-accessible van.
