Kimberley Schools Project is seeking to establish a pool of Program Coordinator – Targeted Teaching for permanent and fixed‐term, full‐time and part‐time vacancies that may arise during 2026 and up to the end of December 2026.

The Project is a collaborative partnership among the Department of Education, Catholic Education Western Australia, the Association of Independent Schools Western Australia and the Department of Regional Development and Primary Industries, designed to accelerate strategies to address low education outcomes in the Kimberley and underpin broader economic and social development.

Project Pillars

* Targeted Teaching – evidence‐based strategies, quality materials and frequent measurement of achievement.
* Early Years – community initiatives that build on and improve existing services and engage families as first teachers through the KindiLink initiative.
* Regular Attendance – community partnerships to deliver strategies that respond to drivers of non‐attendance.
* Community Engagement – development of extended learning programs and initiatives with coaching for school leaders and teachers.

This pool of Program Coordinators will primarily address the Targeted Teaching pillar.

Responsibilities

Suitable applicants will demonstrate exemplary teaching practice and a deep understanding of explicit instruction. They will model effective instruction, primarily in Kindergarten to Year 2, and may support and coach teachers in Years 3–10. An understanding of data‐driven practice and the ability to help teachers analyze and unpack data sets is advantageous.

The Coordinator will provide instructional coaching, requiring high interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with teachers from diverse backgrounds. The role involves travel to remote school communities.

Applicants should also demonstrate their understanding of how all four pillars interrelate and how their skill set adds value to the Project. A willingness to assist in the design and delivery of professional learning is desirable.

* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before commencement.
* Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.
* Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
* Undertake travel throughout the Kimberley region.
* Obtain or hold a current Western Australian driver's licence.

Professional Benefits

* 12% employer‐contributed superannuation.

* Professional development opportunities and study leave/assistance.
* Access to salary packaging (in accordance with relevant industrial instruments).

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

We are committed to an inclusive and culturally responsive workforce reflecting the diversity of Western Australia. We welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, young people, people of diverse sexualities and genders, people with disability, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
