About the Role
We are seeking a Sous Chef (Retail Hospitality) to join our culinary team at Suncorp Stadium. This pivotal role supports the delivery of high-volume food operations across stadium retail outlets. You will work closely with the Retail Food Manager to ensure the consistent preparation, production, and service of quality food during major events.
This is a hands-on leadership role, perfect for a chef who thrives under pressure, enjoys team collaboration, and takes pride in delivering exceptional food experiences to thousands of guests.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assist the Retail Food Manager in daily management of retail kitchen operations.
* Assist with stock control, ordering, and waste minimisation to manage costs.
* Contribute to menu development and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain clean, organised, and safe kitchen areas.
* Maintain food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance at all times.
* Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
* Prepare and produce menu items to meet high-volume event requirements.
* Resolve operational issues efficiently to ensure smooth service delivery.
* Supervise, support, and develop kitchen staff during event operations.
* Support rostering and workforce planning to meet operational demands.
About You
You’re an experienced, motivated chef who thrives in high-volume, fast-paced hospitality environments. You bring a hands-on leadership style, strong organisational skills, and a solutions-focused approach. You enjoy mentoring your team, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation, and contributing to a seamless customer experience.
Ideal candidates will have experience in stadium, retail catering, hotel, or large-scale event kitchens and are comfortable working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Skills & Experience include:
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum).
* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef in high-volume kitchens.
* Strong leadership skills with experience supervising and developing kitchen teams.
* In-depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance.
* Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure and deliver consistent results.
* Experience with stock control, ordering, and waste minimisation practices.
* Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills.
