This is a hands-on role at the intersection of fieldwork, relationship management, and strategic program coordination.
You'll be responsible for building trust across the sugarcane supply chain—working directly with growers, mills, productivity services, and industry associations.
You'll coordinate pilot projects, oversee data collection, and ensure plots are established and monitored according to Avalo's protocols.
Over time, this position has the potential to evolve into full-time leadership of Avalo's sugarcane operations across Australia.What We're Looking ForBe Avalo's local representative in Queensland, strengthening partnerships with growers, mills, productivity services, and industry associations (e.g., Canegrowers, MAPS, SRA)Coordinate pilot activities with CCEP, including grower recruitment, plot establishment, data collection, and ongoing field monitoringOversee data quality—ensuring agronomic, environmental, and economic information is accurately captured and reported into Avalo's AI-powered crop evaluation platformFacilitate meetings, workshops, and field visits for Avalo executives, CCEP, and local stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and alignmentMonitor industry trends and stakeholder feedback, including sustainability initiatives (e.g., Smartcane BMP), grower economics, and policy developmentsSupport pilot execution by working with productivity services for trial establishment and data quality assuranceReport regularly to Avalo's management on pilot progress, grower engagement, risks, and opportunitiesContribute to Avalo's scaling strategy by identifying high-potential regions, growers, and industry collaborationsSkills and Qualifications5+ years' experience in the Australian sugarcane sector, with strong knowledge of growers, mills, productivity services, and associationsExperience in building trust and working directly with growers and regional associationsHands-on project coordination skills, with accountability for deliverablesStrong understanding of sugarcane production systems (ratooning, irrigation, harvest logistics, costs)Ability to collect, manage, and interpret agronomic or sustainability dataFamiliarity with sustainability frameworks such as Smartcane BMP, Bonsucro, or carbon-footprinting methodologiesExcellent communication and organizational skills, with comfort representing Avalo to stakeholders and partnersFlexibility to travel across Queensland (Bundaberg, Mackay, Burdekin, and beyond)A proactive, independent mindset and a passion for sustainable agriculturePowered by JazzHR
