The Role
This is a meaningful opportunity to work within a funded Domestic Violence housing program, supporting women as they transition into safe and stable housing.
As a Housing & Communities Officer, you will manage a residential portfolio across North Bris while working closely with tenants who may be experiencing or recovering from domestic violence. This is a role where empathy and emotional intelligence are just as important as your technical skills.
You will be responsible for ensuring positive tenancy outcomes, supporting residents through challenging circumstances, and helping create a safe and respectful housing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a residential portfolio within a domestic violence program
- Deliver end-to-end tenancy and property management
- Conduct routine, entry and exit inspections
- Manage arrears with a supportive and solutions-focused approach
- Work closely with tenants in sensitive and complex situations
- Liaise with internal teams, support agencies and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with housing legislation and internal policies
- Maintain accurate documentation and tenancy records
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in property management, community housing, tenancy management
- Experience or exposure to head leasing, including landlord or agent liaison, is highly desirable
- Exposure to case management or tenant sustainability preferred
- Exposure to domestic violence, mental health or vulnerable communities is highly regarded
- A warm, calm and empathetic communication style
- Emotionally mature and resilient in challenging environments
- Strong relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills
- Confidence managing complex tenancy situations
