Job Description
North Sydney Girls High School is an academically selective school with over 900 high‑potential, gifted students, 93% of whom come from language backgrounds other than English. The school offers a concept‑driven curriculum, higher‑order critical and creative thinking, and a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead, teach and assess Stage 6 English with innovative, high‑quality programs that promote high expectations, intellectual rigor and engagement for gifted students.
* Manage a diverse English faculty, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing team environment to drive excellence.
* Coordinate faculty systems and processes, implement new Stage 6 syllabuses, build staff capacity and generate a shared vision of excellence.
* Act as a collaborative member of the executive team to lead evidence‑based initiatives for whole‑school continuous improvement, including explicit teaching and literacy instruction.
Qualifications
* Teacher training and academic qualifications required for the position.
* Record of outstanding results and expertise in leading, teaching and assessing Stage 6 English.
* High‑level educational leadership skills and emotional intelligence, with proven capacity to lead diverse teams.
* Outstanding communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in coordinating curriculum, assessment and student welfare programs.
* Knowledge of the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
* Full approval to teach under the NSW Department of Education.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to design inclusive teaching programs.
3. Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams.
4. Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff and parents.
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably.
6. Commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
