Pilatus Training Solutions Australia Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pilatus Aircraft Limited of Switzerland and is responsible for the support and growth of the Pilatus family of aircraft in Australia. Pilatus is seeking to employ a motivated and enthusiastic Design Engineer at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Pearce Bullsbrook WA supporting the Pilatus PC-21 training aircraft.
The position can be based at either the Pearce RAAF base, WA or East Sale RAAF base in Victoria.
The role:
Primary responsibility of the Design Engineer is the development of engineering and technical solutions for the customer PC-21 aircraft, working collaboratively as part of the Pilatus Engineering Team.
Job Description:
* Review engineering and technical queries and provide onsite support to the Maintenance Organisation to ensure aircraft availability is maximised
* Develop changes to type design (including structural repair schemes and Service Bulletins) for the Pilatus PC-21 aircraft in accordance with the Pilatus Design Organisation procedures
* Assessing the impact of corrosion and environmental degradation, and developing improvements and changes to design or maintenance policy
* Perform technical investigations
* Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support during technical discussions with other stakeholders
* Provide general engineering support as necessary
* Liaison with Pilatus Customer Support and Engineering departments, as well as Maintenance, Production and Logistic organisations where required.
* Provide administrative assistance to management in support of contracted reporting requirements, including timely delivery of engineering data for reporting
* Assist with the maintenance and development of engineering related procedures and processes
Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, or equivalent
Skills and experience:
* Knowledge of Engineering tools typical to applicable disciplines, e.g. FEA, CAD, Matlab, Mathcad, etc
* Excellent computer skills and experience in application of spreadsheets and databases
* Sound problem solving skills
* Ability to engage in investigation of technical issues, development, and review of technical documents with a high level of integrity
* Ability to present complex issues concisely
* Ability to engage with senior personnel, including aircrew, engineers, and technical support staff
* Ability to prioritise workload and to work independently
* Proven ability to operate within and support a cohesive, customer focussed, team environment
* Excellent communication skills
* Able to multi-task, prioritise work outputs and accept irregular working hours
* Prepared to increase knowledge within the discipline through sustained professional development
Requirements:
* Ability to hold an Australian Government Baseline security clearance.
* Valid vehicle driving licence.
* Employment contingent on satisfactory background screening.
* Full-time position following a six-month probationary period.
