About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Locum Perfusionist to join the cardiothoracic unit at a major hospital in Hobart, Tasmania on a 3-month part-time contract starting ASAP. Working Monday, Wednesday and Friday (7am‑6pm), you will provide specialist perfusion services within the Tasmanian Cardiothoracic Unit during cardiothoracic surgery. There is no on‑call or weekend work required. The main clinical delivery components include heart and lung machine operations and cell salvage, working alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team of surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre staff.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide perfusion services during cardiothoracic surgery, including setup and operation of cardiopulmonary bypass equipment
* Operate and manage associated devices including intra‑aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices and blood salvage systems
* Monitor and maintain perfusion equipment, including calibration and user maintenance
* Maintain accurate perfusion records and contribute to patient data collection
* Assist with equipment selection and inventory management for cardiopulmonary bypass procedures
* Participate in multidisciplinary care with surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre staff
* Support research initiatives within the cardiothoracic unit

About You
* Bachelor of Science (Biological Sciences) or equivalent
* Certification with the Australasian Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (or eligibility to obtain certification)
* Demonstrated clinical experience as a perfusionist in cardiothoracic surgery
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary surgical team
* Strong organisational, communication and clinical decision‑making skills
