Placements are available to deploy in September 2026 and will be approximately 18 – 26 months in duration.
Responsibilities
As a EPD Combat systems – Electrical Engineer you will:
* Provide technical electrical engineering support for the installation, integration, testing and commissioning of complex systems and equipment
* Support maintenance, upgrade and modernisation activities across electrical and electronic systems
* Prepare and maintain technical documentation, work instructions and test procedures in line with engineering standards
* Deliver hands‑on on‑site support during installation, testing and operational activities
* Investigate, diagnose and resolve electrical and system‑level faults
* Develop and execute test plans to verify system performance and compliance
* Coordinate and support functional testing, inspections and system acceptance
* Provide technical advice to resolve operational or performance‑related issues
* Collaborate with engineering, maintenance and operational teams across project phases
* Ensure all work complies with safety, quality and regulatory requirements
Eligibility Criteria
The successful applicant must possess:
* Bachelor's in electrical engineering
* 1 – 5 years’ experience (desirable)
* Experience in a shipyard or other defense contracting environment (desirable)
* Australian Citizenship
* An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
Additional Details
During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines at HMAS Stirling.
Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
