This is an Aboriginal Health Practitioner position to support the delivery of the Azithromycin At Birth Trial, a randomised controlled trial examining whether a single dose of oral azithromycin given before birth can reduce bacterial infections in mothers and babies. This research aims to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes, particularly for Aboriginal families.


The Role

Some of the key duties of this role include:

This position is based in Darwin and includes travel to remote communities by light aircraft or 4WD for participant recruitment, for up to five (5) days per trip and up to two (2) trips per month.


About You

As a motivated and community-focused health professional, you will have a strong interest in contributing to health research and improving outcomes for mothers and babies. You may or may not have previous research experience and will be supported to build your skills. You will also have:

* Qualifications and experience as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.
* Demonstrated experience working with patients, clients, research participants or community members.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Aboriginal people and people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.

The Benefits

* Base salary $90,872 - $97,646 per annum, pro‑rata (total remuneration package including superannuation $113,787 - $121,509 per annum, pro‑rata).
* Indigenous Knowledge Allowance of $3,340 per annum, pro‑rata.
* Generous leave provisions including 6 weeks annual leave.
* Salary packaging up to $15,900 per annum and $2,650 meal and entertainment card tax‑free.
* Option to increase superannuation to 14%.
