How Our Team Will Empower Your Future
We believe that when you choose us, you are entrusting us with teaching you the core skills that will form the foundation for an amazing career to come and challenge you to be the best clinician you can be.
With this in mind, we've set out a structured, comprehensive 12-month plan:
* On day one you'll join other new starters for a classroom style orientation so you can meet your team, play around with your new laptop in our online database and do some pre-reading and training modules before meeting your first clients
* We then take you out to ridealong with your supervisor so you can observe how a senior leads sessions and you can debrief after each. If you haven't had a community role before but want to know if you'll like it, we can invite you to shadow some sessions during your interview process
* Your supervisor will then shadow a couple of your initial sessions, letting you take the reins and providing feedback so that you'll feel confident when you begin seeing clients independently
* Throughout your time with us you will receive regular supervision and support one on one, plus monthly team training sessions with our 25+ OT's. We also have a rolling group chat so you can crowd source answers for on the fly ad hoc questions meaning you're never stuck alone without someone to ask for help
* Additional training content is also available anytime via our online resource library
* Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and enjoy opportunities for collaboration as you share clients with other disciplines
* Join us for our companywide annual training day for the entire business (circa 130) to come together to learn from external presenters tailored each discipline
Once you've settled in, if you find you're particularly passionate about a certain area, we have pathways to clinical specialisation such as Neuro, home mods, AT, driving, Mental health or becoming a supervisor.
We need have some fun at work too:
* To bring us together as a team, we have a fun wellbeing program that involves monthly social events. Previously we've gone to mini golf, ten pin bowling, wheelchair basketball + rugby, made dumplings, candles and gingerbread houses, paint & sip, and celebrated important dates such as International Women's Day and mental health month and many others
* To allow you more time to focus on clinical work you will have someone allocated to you in our admin team to assist with booking client appointments for you. Your travel is reimbursed at $0.99/km and you also receive phone/ data and laundry allowances
* You'll have a modern office filled with clinical resources (plus snacks to fuel you too)
* Novated leasing options
* Professional indemnity and public liability insurance covered for you
* Ability to transfer between offices if you move one day
* Discounted Health Insurance for you and your family plus other everyday savings on your Energy Bill, online shopping, groceries, petrol and more
* An Employee Assistance Program is available to provide external, confidential support
The Role
We predominantly see our clients in their homes, group homes, aged care facilities or in a public setting. One morning you may be helping someone trial a new wheelchair as they visit their local cafe or helping someone cook independently or advising on some new assistive technology to make staying at home more comfortable and functional.
You may see 3 or 4 clients one day, then the next you're working from home or having an office day to write reports, prepare resources or have supervision & training.
This role is ideal if you like to have genuine flexibility and control over how you structure your days - meaning your individuality is recognised + you don't miss your afternoon sport or having the social life you've sacrificed whilst studying
You will gain lots of variety in this role as you service a predominantly adult, NDIS & DVA caseload (12 yrs old and up) living with:
* Developmental disabilities (autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, Down syndrome)
* Neurological conditions (stroke, acquired brain injury, brain tumour, multiple sclerosis)
* Degenerative diseases (Parkinson's disease, MS, motor neurone disease, Huntington's disease, dementia)
* Physical disabilities (amputations)
* Sensory impairments (vision loss, hearing loss)
You will be supported to:
* Support clients with a range of tasks such as life skills (budgeting, shopping, travel, cooking), pressure care, sensory, cognitive re-training, prescribing equipment and assistive tech, upper limb + fine & gross motor therapy plus home assessments and modifications (initially minor and you can receive more training in complex mods)
* Comprehensive assessment and reporting eg initials, falls, functional capacity, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) or Activities of Daily Living (ADL) & Individualised Living Option (ILO)
Alongside having the freedom to work from home, we have an office in Maitland and Toronto so you can have a home base. Depending where you live we'll ensure you see clients in your area and you can also choose to use the office for client appointments, preparing resources, writing reports and spending time with your Supervisor and hanging out with other OT's and the wider MDT
