We are seeking an additional compassionate and skilled Youth Counsellor to join our team on a part-time basis (15hrs/wk), providing therapeutic counselling and support to children and young people impacted by domestic and family violence and sexual assault.
This is a hands-on role suited to a practitioner who values trauma-informed practice and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for young people in our region.
About Us
Gladstone Women's Health Centre is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation established in 1992. We work across Central Queensland to strengthen safety, health and wellbeing for women, young people, families and communities through gender equity.
Our work spans direct service delivery, community education, prevention and systems change, centering lived experience in everything we do.
We are proud of our inclusive, feminist and trauma-informed approach, and our commitment to cultural safety, accessibility and collaboration. Our people are our greatest strength, and we invest in our team members' wellbeing, capability and professional growth so they can do meaningful, sustainable work.
About the Role
As a Youth Counsellor, you will provide specialised therapeutic counselling and case coordination to children and young people who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, domestic and family violence and sexual assault.

* Complete therapeutic intake assessments, risk assessments and safety planning
* Appropriately manage and respond to referrals
* Coordinate care and refer clients to other services to ensure holistic support
* Maintain high-quality case notes, records and reporting in line with organisational and funding requirements
* Work collaboratively with families, schools, partner services and internal team members
* Participate in supervision, team meetings, reflective practice and professional development
You will work both independently and as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team, with access to clinical supervision and a strong culture of collaboration and care.
About You
You are a skilled and values-aligned practitioner who:
* Holds a Bachelor's degree in Counselling or Social Work, or a Diploma of Counselling
* Has experience providing counselling or therapeutic support to children and/or young people impacted by sexual violence and/or domestic and family violence
* Demonstrates sound judgement, emotional resilience and the ability to work with complex and sensitive presentations
* Has strong skills in trauma-informed practice, risk assessment and safety planning
* Communicates with warmth, professionalism and clarity
* Is organised, reflective and committed to ethical, high-quality practice and continuous learning
Experience working within feminist frameworks, culturally safe practice and intersectional approaches will be highly regarded.
