Description
The Aquatic Centre Duty Officer reports to the Aquatic Centre Team Leader and is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of the J.M Robson Aquatic Centre in accordance with Royal Lifesaving guidelines and Council WHS policies and procedures. The role supports the Aquatic Centre management team by guiding permanent and casual staff through their shifts and maintaining high standards of service delivery, venue presentation, safety, and security.
Responsibilities
* Implement operational systems and procedures and allocate resources to meet all venue operational requirements while maintaining high standards of service delivery, venue presentation, safety and security.
* Supervise aquatic centre staff while on shift, providing guidance on safe operations and tasks.
* Carry out and lead emergency response activities and plans in line with the Centre's Emergency Management response plans.
* Ensure on‐shift maintenance and cleaning is carried out with a minimum disruption to users.
* Report regularly to the Aquatic Centre Manager on plant room operations and service delivery.
* Ensure lifeguards comply with NSW Health Department, Council and Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
* Assist the centre manager in providing on‐site training and inductions to new employees.
Qualifications
* Current Senior First Aid Certificate Level 2 and CPR
* Royal Life Saving Lifeguard Licence
* Certificate III in Aquatics (SIS30110) or equivalent (or willingness to obtain)
* Class C Driver's Licence
* Completion of Working with Children Check
* Commitment to integrity and honesty
* Commitment to high quality customer service
* High level communication skills
* Prior experience with public pool operations
* Commitment to Work Health and Safety
Preferred Qualifications
* Certificate IV in Community Recreation (SIS40110)
* RLSSA Oxygen Equipment Award
* Asthma Treatment Course
* Senior First Aid Certificate Level 3 with Oxygen Assisted Resuscitation
* Comprehensive knowledge of Council's Pool Operations Manual
* Experience in a customer‐focused role
* Outstanding in‐person and telephone etiquette and communication
* Ability to deal with complex pool/aquatic issues
* Basic computer skills (Perfect Gym POS, Windows, Microsoft Office, EFTPOS)
* Knowledge of Guidelines for Safe Pool operations
Salary and Benefits
* Between $488.48 and $536.73 per week, commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience
* Penalty rates apply to the Saturday shift
