The Role
Our client is seeking to appoint a senior commercial lawyer to lead their commercial practice as a Special Counsel or Principal, depending on experience. With a large volume of work awaiting from their loyal client base, this is an exceptionally rare opportunity to step into a leadership role without needing to bring a book.
You'll enjoy leading complex matters, mentoring a capable team and helping to shape practice strategy.
In this role, you will:
* Lead and manage a broad commercial portfolio: business and share sales, complex contracts, negotiations and corporate advisory.
* Draft and advise on terms of business, service/supply, distribution & procurement, personal property securities arrangements, commercial leases and related agreements.
* Build and nurture client/referrer relationships; drive business development and contribute to practice strategy.
* Oversee quality, workflow and consistent use of systems; supervise and mentor junior lawyers.
About You
* 6+ years as a senior commercial lawyer (an existing Senior Associate, Special Counsel or Principal), ideally from a quality boutique or mid-tier environment.
* Proven leadership: growing teams, lifting capability and setting standards.
* Strong record of client development and maintaining referrer networks.
* Excellent drafting, commerciality and the ability to run matters end-to-end.
* Team-first mindset with high standards, integrity and client-service focus.
