Vereco is a leading provider of revegetation landscaping, resource recovery, bulk haulage and environmental rehabilitation services throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory. Our large fleet supports major clients across mining, civil infrastructure, renewables and land development. We are looking for an experienced Workshop Fitter or Diesel Mechanic to join our Mackay workshop team and support the maintenance of our growing fleet of heavy vehicles and civil machinery.
About the Role
This is a full-time position based at our Talty Road workshop. You will be responsible for diagnostics, servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance across a wide range of equipment including trucks and trailers, NHVAS accredited vehicles, excavators, loaders, telehandlers, water carts, Bobcats and PosiTracks, as well as crushers, grinders and specialised hydroseeding and environmental units. The role operates Monday to Friday with additional work available on Saturdays as required during peak periods.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete scheduled servicing, repairs and maintenance across trucks, plant and equipment
* Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
* Ensure all work complies with NHVAS Mass and Maintenance requirements and Vereco's ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems
* Support defect closeout, prestart compliance and fleet reliability
* Perform workshop and occasional field repairs
* Maintain accurate records in line with company procedures
* Uphold WHS obligations and safe work practices within the workshop environment
What You Will Bring
* Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic, Plant Fitter or equivalent
* Experience working on heavy vehicles, civil machinery and hydraulic systems
* Strong problem solving and diagnostic skills
* Understanding of NHVAS compliance and roadworthy standards
* Ability to work safely, independently and as part of a team
* HR licence desirable but not essential
* Experience with crushers or grinders is highly regarded
