We currently have a 6 month fixed-term contract opportunity for an External Sales Officer to join our team.
This role reports to the Inventory Manager and plays a key role in managing external customer accounts, driving profitable sales growth, and contributing to the success of our Logistics business unit.
The External Sales Officer is responsible for developing a sustainable external supply business, building strong customer relationships, and identifying new market opportunities.
This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and grow the external customer base through excellent service and account management
- Provide accurate material quotes and project quotation packages
- Process external sales orders, returns, discounts, and related activities
- Administer credit control and monitor customer trading terms
- Review pricing and customer margins to ensure profitability
- Generate financial sales reports and identify commercial opportunities
- Reinforce trading terms and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with Essential Energy’s Code of Conduct
About You
As an External Sales Officer, you will bring strong account management experience, a customer-first mindset, and a commercial approach to sales.
You will be confident working independently and collaboratively, with a focus on delivering business growth and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications/Skills
Mandatory:
- Certificate IV in Government (Procurement and Contracting) or equivalent experience
Desirable:
- Driver’s Licence
Experience:
- Proven experience in a sales/account management role
- Knowledge of purchasing and inventory management practices
- Experience with quoting, account setup, and maintaining sales systems
- Understanding of contract management and customer engagement
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to manage complex issues and drive continuous improvement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant business systems
