We are seeking a Telecommunications Network Engineer to support the planning, design, deployment and ongoing performance of telecommunications network solutions connected to our underground delivery programs (including fibre and associated infrastructure). You will work closely with project stakeholders and site teams to ensure network designs are buildable, compliant and commissioned to a high standard. Telecommunications Network Engineer - Location: Kilsyth, VIC Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver end-to-end telecommunications network solutions, including design, configuration, build and commissioning of network equipment and services across multiple environments and vendor platforms.
* Translate project requirements into technical scopes, including documentation of objectives, deliverables, assumptions, constraints, risk controls and cost considerations to support project approvals and stakeholder sign-off.
* Develop site solutions by coordinating site identification, technical assessments, drawings and submissions, and managing the workflow through to required approvals.
* Select fit-for-purpose hardware and software configurations (e.g., routing/switching, transmission and customer-edge equipment), ensuring performance, resilience, scalability and interoperability with carriers, service providers and end users.
* Prepare, review and interpret technical specifications, plans, drawings and standards to ensure network works are installed and used correctly during construction and commissioning.
* Support the technical design of network connectivity by determining the most suitable circuit types and layouts, transmission paths, protection elements and supporting infrastructure to achieve reliable service outcomes.
* Identify and troubleshoot issues in existing network services; complete structured root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce repeat faults and improve service quality over time.
* Monitor network and service performance using appropriate tools; investigate alarms, optimise configuration settings and verify service stability following changes or field works.
* Assess current and forecast demand; produce short- and long-term uplift plans for upgrades, capacity expansion, additional features and lifecycle replacement of equipment.
* Evaluate new products, tools and services; coordinate trials, technical assessments and procurement recommendations aligned to operational needs and value for money.
* Ensure engineering outcomes comply with relevant telecommunications requirements, safety obligations and internal procedures, and maintain accurate project records, test results and commissioning packs.
Required Skills & Experience
* Minimum 1-year relevant experience in telecommunications network engineering, deployment, commissioning or operations.
Qualifications
* AQF bachelor's degree or higher in Telecommunications Engineering, Network Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, IT (Networks), or a closely related discipline.
