Purchasing / Procurement Manager

Australian Diversified Engineering is a proudly Australian-owned and operated engineering and manufacturing company servicing the mining and industrial sectors. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Purchasing / Procurement Manager to lead our procurement function and support our operations with strategic, commercial and operational excellence.
This is a hands-on role managing a small team and working closely with engineering, production, finance and sales teams to ensure the timely, cost-effective and reliable supply of materials and services.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Business Operations and being part of the leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that support business objectives, drive cost efficiencies and ensure continuity of supply in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key performance criteria for success in this role include:
Procurement Strategy & Planning
* Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business and production requirements.
* Forecast material and service requirements to support manufacturing schedules and customer delivery commitments.
* Analyse spend and supply chain performance to identify cost savings and efficiency opportunities.
Supplier & Contract Management
* Source, evaluate and manage suppliers, ideally within the manufacturing and/or mining supply chain.
* Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times and service levels to achieve best value outcomes.
* Build strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers and manage performance against KPIs.
Budget & Cost Control
* Develop and manage procurement budgets and monitor expenditure.
* Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
* Review and approve purchase orders and invoices in line with financial controls.
Leadership & Communication
* Lead and support a small purchasing and administration team, setting priorities and ensuring high performance.
* Communicate effectively across all levels of the business and with external stakeholders.
* Provide clear reporting on supply risks, forecasts, savings and performance to senior management.
Time Management & Results Focus
* Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Proactively resolve supply issues and minimise impacts to production.
* Demonstrate a positive, energetic and solutions-focused approach to achieving results.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement leadership role. (Experience within the manufacturing, mining or heavy industry would be highly regarded, however a background in Retail or FMCG or the like would also offer transferable skills to the role).
* Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability.
* Experience with forecasting, budgeting and procurement systems.
* A proactive, organized and outcome-driven mindset with the ability to lead by example.
* Experience using Pronto ERP software system would be an advantage but not essential.
