Our Story & Our Ambition
Midea Electronics Australia is building something significant.
We have moved past the initial startup phase, having successfully established our brand and a core product portfolio in the Australian market.
We are now at a critical and exciting juncture: scaling up.
Our ambition is to evolve from a promising newcomer into a leading, developed organisation known for its strategic market presence, operational excellence, and deep understanding of the Australian consumer.
This requires moving from a reactive posture to a proactive, insight-driven one.
The Product Manager will be a central figure in this transition, acting as the strategic owner for their product category and a key driver of our next phase of growth.
The Purpose of the Role
The Product Manager at Midea Australia is not just a manager of products; you are the business leader for your category.
You will be entrusted with the full lifecycle of our product lines, from shaping the multi-year vision to executing the tactical plans that drive market share and profitability.
You will be the crucial link between our commercial ambitions, the technical capabilities of our global Midea partners, and the unique needs of the Australian customer.
Your core mission is to make intelligent, data-backed decisions about what we sell, to whom, and why, ensuring our product portfolio is a competitive weapon.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and own the 2-3 year product roadmap for your assigned category (e.g., Air Conditioning, Major Appliances, Small Appliances).
Conduct continuous market analysis, tracking competitor activity, retail trends, and consumer behaviour to identify gaps and opportunities.
Define and articulate a clear product vision and positioning that differentiates Midea in the Australian market.
Own the P&L for your product category.
You are responsible for achieving revenue, margin, and sell-through targets.
Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, from New Product Introduction (NPI) to end-of-life planning, ensuring a clean and profitable portfolio.
Define product specifications and features tailored for the Australian market, collaborating with the global Midea R&D and product teams.
Go-to-Market & Sales Enablement
Act as the primary product expert for the entire company, especially for the sales and marketing teams.
Develop the core go-to-market strategy for new product launches, including target audience, value proposition, and pricing.
Create high-impact sales tools, training materials, and product narratives that empower our sales team to win in the market.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Work closely with the sales team to understand channel needs, monitor sell-through, and develop effective promotional strategies.
Partner with the marketing team to ensure product messaging is accurate, compelling, and reaches the right audience.
Collaborate with supply chain and logistics to ensure product availability and manage inventory levels effectively.
The Right Person for This Role
We are looking for a commercially astute and pragmatic individual who thrives in a scaling environment.
You are as comfortable discussing margin structures with the leadership team as you are training a sales rep on product features.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
Proven experience (5+ years) as a Product Manager, Product Marketing Manager, or a similar commercial role within the consumer electronics, appliances, or a related FMCG/retail sector.
A solid understanding of the Australian retail landscape, including key retailers.
Demonstrable experience in developing product strategies and successfully bringing products to market.
Strong financial and business acumen, with experience managing a P&L or significant product budget.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Personal Attributes
Owner's Mindset: You take initiative and full accountability for your category's success.
Strategic yet Hands-On: You can formulate a 3-year vision but are equally willing to dive into the data or help solve a day-one operational challenge.
Resilient and Adaptable: You are comfortable with the ambiguity and pace of a scaling business and see it as an opportunity, not a hurdle.
A Bridge Builder: You naturally collaborate across different functions and cultures, especially in a global matrixed organisation.
What We Offer
This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the future of a major global brand in the Australian market.
You will have genuine autonomy and your contributions will be directly visible in our success.
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a performance-based bonus, and the chance to build a career with a company on a clear and exciting growth trajectory.
You will be joining a team that is passionate, driven, and committed to building a world-class organisation.
