Join Mackay Regional Council's People & Culture team as a Capability & Development Advisor and help shape the learning and development experience across a diverse organisation. You'll lead practical workforce development initiatives—supporting apprentices, trainees, leaders and teams—through high-quality facilitation, program design, and strong stakeholder partnerships.
About this opportunity:
You will design, deliver and coordinate workforce development initiatives that support organisational capability, internal mobility and early-career pathways. Working closely with apprentices, trainees, supervisors and stakeholders, you'll ensure programs are engaging, compliant and aligned to business needs.
Key responsibilities
* Design and deliver workforce development and capability programs
* Facilitate engaging learning experiences, workshops and inductions
* Support apprentices, trainees and their supervisors throughout programs
* Apply strong knowledge of the VET sector
* Coordinate with training providers and maintain compliant training records
* Design and implement entry-level and internal development programs
* Use data and feedback to evaluate outcomes and drive continuous improvement
* Support learning systems administration (HRIS and LMS)
* Highly regarded: design and develop eLearning solutions
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills
* Demonstrated experience as a Capability/Development professional delivering workforce development programs in a diverse environment.
* High-level facilitation skills and confidence engaging groups across a range of roles and operational contexts.
* Experience working with apprentices and trainees and supporting their supervisors to achieve development outcomes.
* Solid knowledge of the VET sector and vocational pathway requirements.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders.
* Proven project management skills, including planning, delivery, coordination, and evaluation of development initiatives.
* Experience designing and implementing entry-level and internal development programs (e.g., traineeships/apprenticeships, career pathways, internal uplift programs).
* Experience working within an HRIS and LMS (administration, reporting, record management and/or continuous improvement).
* Highly regarded: experience designing and developing eLearning (storyboarding, content development, or collaborating with SMEs to build digital learning).
* Relevant tertiary qualification(s) or equivalent experience (where applicable).
