Production Planning Assistant
A globally recognised leader in recruitment is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Planner Assistant to join its mechanical production team.
In this hands-on role, you'll gain exposure across assembly, machining, planning, and production documentation while contributing directly to daily manufacturing outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support and coordinate daily production planning to ensure on-time delivery
* Create and maintain documentation for Standard Operating Procedures, maintenance registers, and continuous improvement records
* Generate shop packets and picking reports for production preparation and job finalisation
* Raise requisitions for parts, consumables, and tooling, and follow up with procurement
* Assist with LEAN projects to improve efficiency and reduce waste
* Maintain and organise preventative maintenance schedules on key production equipment
* Participate in inventory control and cycle counting activities
* Operate basic machines in the workshop when required
* Support mechanical assembly and product testing as needed
* Keep inventory organised in the CNC 'Smart Cabinet' system
* Take on additional tasks as directed by the Production Manager
Requirements:
* A trade qualification in fitting/machining or relevant engineering studies (mechanical or manufacturing)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
* Strong mechanical reasoning and problem-solving skills
* Excellent organisational and communication abilities
* A proactive, 'can-do' approach and willingness to work both independently and in a team
* A strong customer focus - both internally and externally
Bonus If You Have:
* Experience in a machine shop or assembly environment
* Understanding of LEAN principles or continuous improvement projects
* Previous involvement in documentation control or planning processes
