Role description:
Due to consistent growth in our business, we are currently looking for a Principal Civil Engineer - Utilities to join our Sydney team. We have multiple opportunities for engineers with various skill sets across our civil teams in Places (Urban Development) and Mobility (Highways and Rail) Business Areas.
This role is flexible to suit the candidate with regards to attendance in the Sydney office, working hours and Business Areas.
Role accountabilities:
Managing utility relocation designs with civil/structural designs to resolve clashes and design relocations;
Leading 3D modelling, coordination and clash detection of utilities in appropriate 3D software (e.g. Civil 3D, 12D, Navisworks etc);
Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design;
Providing both leadership and technical advice to project team members;
Confirming relevant authority requirements, standards, specifications and procedures to the design scope of works;
Liaison with relevant utility authorities to manage and coordinate approvals;
Assisting with the management of sub-consultants/specialist utility designers;
Review of, and ensuring compliance with, the components of the project for which we are responsible, including drawings, reports, specifications and studies and the interfaces with other disciplines; and
Guiding the technical development of junior engineers in the utilities discipline area.
Qualifications & Experience:
First and foremost, you share our passion for improving the quality of life and want to be part of city-shaping projects and providing the best solutions to our clients. You are a tertiary qualified engineer with extensive experience in utilities design and come to us with:
Relevant engineering degree. Chartered status or seeking equivalent professional accreditation advantageous;
Experience design Sydney Water infrastructure and Water servicing coordinator (WSC) accreditation with Sydney Water advantageous;
Relevant post-graduate experience, including supervising aspects of a project, application of standards and technical knowledge;
Demonstrated experience in managing utility approval processes for major utility relocation and protection designs on infrastructure projects;
Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally; and
Experience of working in multi discipline design and/or project teams.
