Part time contract working 53.2 hours per fortnight to 21 February 2027 (The period of this contract is subject to and in accordance with the parental leave provisions of the Municipal Officers and Nurses Enterprise Agreement)
About the Position
A position has become available for an experienced payroll officer to join the finance division for one of the state's largest metro/rural Councils. The role will play a critical part in the delivery of a payroll function, impacting a diverse and vast workforce.
About You
Reporting to the Team Leader Financial Accounting, the payroll function is part of a raft of operational finance functions that are delivered as part of a robust, back-office finance team.
The financial accounting team delivers operational functions for Council by way of Accounts Payable, Payroll, Treasury, Fixed Asset and Statutory Accounting, Legislative reporting and a raft of other back-office finance specific services. The successful candidate will be an experienced payroll officer with strong technical skills and a developed understanding of payroll legislation and application.

1. Demonstrated Payroll experience
2. Ability to work under pressure and adhere to cyclic deadlines
3. Sound understanding of payroll legislation and its application to staff
4. Flexible approach to problem solving, with a focus on continuous improvement.
