You will work with the world's largest computing infrastructure. Your work involves periods of independence from your team. You will learn the daily operations of a large data center and troubleshoot hands-on servers and network equipment. You will interact with other teams—logistics, networking, security, and more—to get the job done. There is never a dull moment; each day brings different challenges.
Data Center Operations designs, installs, and maintains the world's largest computing infrastructure. Our scope includes system repair, issue resolution, parts tracking, and maintenance assistance. Amazon Data Centers are large-scale, high-density centers where you'll help change technology across the region.
Contract and Career Path
We are looking for candidates to commit to a 6-month contract. Coaching and periodic assessments will help develop your skills. If successful after the 6-month period, you might be interviewed to join the Amazon family full-time.
Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot all hardware and related problems.
Perform basic level OS troubleshooting.
Perform basic level configuration troubleshooting.
Perform replacement of parts and devices.
Perform storage media (HDD, SSD, etc.) sanitization and destruction tasks.
Maintain a high level of system reliability by prioritizing resolution of trouble tickets efficiently.
Follow DC operations, logistics, security and safety related processes and guidelines.
Practice and enforce Amazon's security and safety best practices.
Shift and Physical Requirements
This position requires working in a 24/7 operational environment with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work any assigned shift pattern, typically a 12-hour rotation. Shift schedules may change based on operational needs, and employees must maintain alertness and effectiveness during their shifts. On-call responsibilities may be required, and shift differential pay will be provided for non-standard hours. Basic knowledge of IT hardware (desktops, laptops, servers) and its configurations is required. The role has a physical component requiring the ability to lift and rack equipment using Amazon's lifting equipment. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and their own vehicle to travel between sites.
Qualifications
A degree or diploma from university or TAFE.
Linux knowledge.
Networking knowledge.
Passionate about IT infrastructure and hardware.
