About Us Thermawood Monash is Melbourne's leading specialist in retrofitting double glazing into existing timber window joinery. We help homeowners save on energy bills, reduce noise, and increase comfort — without replacing beautiful heritage windows and doors.
We're a tight-knit, supportive crew that's growing fast and we need more good people on the tools.
The Role No two days are the same — you'll be on different job sites across Melbourne (mostly South-East, Eastern & Bayside suburbs) removing old single-glazed units and installing high-performance double-glazed panels into existing timber frames.
You'll be trained on the job (we have a proven system), so if you're handy with timber work, keen to learn precise fitting techniques, and turn up every day with a good attitude — this is perfect for you.
Daily work includes:
* Removing existing single-glazed units from timber joinery
* Safely carrying and installing heavy double-glazed panels
* Cutting and fitting draught seals & timber beading with power tools
* Dismantling and re-installing double-hung, awning & casement windows
* Working at heights (scaffolding, booms, scissor lifts — all training provided)
* Site set-up, clean-up and safe glass disposal
* Delivering a premium, precise finish that makes clients extremely happy
What we're really looking for (the person, not just the CV):
* Can safely use basic power tools (drills, routers, circular saws) for timber work
* Strong work ethic & excellent punctuality
* Team player who respects clients' homes
* Happy to travel where ever needed
* Physically fit — you'll be lifting glass units (we always work in pairs)
* Quick learner with a "can-do" attitude and eye for detail
* Problem solving skills
* Long Term commitment
Experience in joinery, window fitting or glazing is a bonus but NOT required — we will teach you everything specific to our retrofit system.
You must have:
* White Card
* ABN (or willing to get one)
* Current driver's licence (Manual)
* Right to work in Australia
What we offer:
* 4-day working week paid for 5 days — work your full hours over 4 longer days (typically Mon-Thu or Tue-Fri, ~10 hour shifts) and enjoy a consistent 3-day weekend with no pay cut — better recovery, family time and life balance
* $30–$45 per hour based on skills & attitude (top rates paid quickly once proven)
* Monday–Thursday 7:30am–5:00pm
* Full-time or part-time
* Subcontractors: excellent weekly pay + flexibility
* Full training & ongoing support in joinery retrofit techniques
