The Role
As the City of Salisbury's Media Advisor, you'll provide expert advice across the organisation on media and public relations, working with the Executive team to deliver media strategies and plans to positively promote the City of Salisbury and the work of Council.
Together with teams across the organisation, you'll identify and develop proactive media and promotional opportunities and manage reactive media to ensure the reputation of the City of Salisbury is maintained.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing strategic media and PR advice to senior leaders
* Identify and plan media and PR opportunities through media plans and preparing pitches, media releases and speaking points
* Building and maintaining relationships with media outlets and journalists
* Protect the reputation of the City of Salisbury through media planning and preparation of holding statements and responses in preparation for reactive media
* Curate news content across multiple channels
* Monitoring the media landscape and providing timely insights, analysis, and advice
* Ensuring consistent brand voice across all channels
* Supporting crisis communication activities when needed
Skill & Competencies
* Experience working with media or in a media management/ liaison role or a journalism environment
* Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to r crafting clear, engaging content for a variety of channels
* The ability to juggle a varying workload and competing priorities
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and the media
