About the role
Senior Capital Procurement Business Partner will:
Play a key role as a partner in procurement and tendering processes (preferably for public sector) and working collaboratively across Council to champion our purpose of Growing Townsville and to deliver the Corporate Plan in consultation with the Townsville Community. This position is accountable to the Chief Procurement Officer and will be focused on the delivery of procurement regarding Council’s capital plan; negotiating with supplier to deliver value; manage customer relationships, developing a culture of customer-centricity and personal accountability; and reshaping how we deliver services to maximise value.
This position is responsible for delivering effective and efficient specialist procurement services and advice, supporting best practice, defining sourcing strategies that will support the delivery of the capital program, achieving value for money, partnering with stakeholders to ensure effective procurement outcomes, providing feedback and input to inform section and organisational policy and procedure, operating at a strategic management level though having an understanding at the operational level, making tender recommendations and developing related reports and submitting, and providing input and assistance into procurement related business cases.
About you
Our Ideal candidate will have:
* Demonstrated experience role modelling a positive safety culture and adherence to the Health Safety Management Systems through visible leadership and exercising due diligence and management of compliance and legislative obligations.
* Degree in Engineering, Project Management or Procurement/Finance/Legal related preferrable, or minimum 8 – 10 years’ experience in a similar position.
* Experience in managing procurement/contract activity in large industry.
* Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
* Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong negotiation skills.
* Strong stakeholder collaboration and customer service skills.
* Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
* Advanced Excel skills, including high level proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write advanced reports.
* Strong ability to interpret financial metrics and documents.
* Exposure to public sector.
* Understanding of the Local Government Act/requirements
