About the Role
The Operations Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for the effective, compliant, and sustainable operation of Stepping Stones Community Support. This position holds day-to-day operational authority and is accountable for workforce leadership, service delivery, compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, and organisational risk management.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate must be willing and able to step into operational matters as required, including responding to urgent staffing needs and ensuring continuity of participant support.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Operational Leadership & Service Delivery
* Provide day-to-day operational leadership across all services
* Ensure continuity, quality, and safety of support delivered to participants
* Respond to operational disruptions, incidents, and staffing shortages
* Provide hands-on operational or direct support, including covering last-minute shifts
* Monitor service quality and implement corrective actions
NDIS Compliance, Governance & Audit Readiness
* Ensure compliance with the NDIS Act, NDIS Practice Standards, and NDIS Code of Conduct
* Maintain audit-ready systems, records, and documentation
* Oversee incident management, complaints, and reportable incidents
* Lead investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions
Workforce Leadership & Management
* Lead and support staff across the organisation
* Oversee recruitment, onboarding, induction, and supervision
* Manage rostering in line with participant needs and SCHADS Award requirements
* Address performance and conduct matters
Rostering, On-Call & Operational Coverage
* Maintain effective rostering systems
* Manage last-minute shift changes and staffing gaps
* Participate in or oversee on-call arrangements
* Monitor fatigue and workforce sustainability
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
* Identify and manage operational and compliance risks
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives
* Contribute to organisational growth and strategic planning
About You
You are a confident and accountable operations leader with experience in disability or community services, minimum 5 years. You are comfortable operating in a highly regulated environment and balancing leadership, compliance, and operational demands. You lead by example and are prepared to be hands-on when required.
Essential Criteria
* Experience in an operation or senior leadership role within disability or community services
* Strong knowledge of the NDIS and compliance requirements
* Proven workforce leadership and rostering experience
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
* Ability to work flexibly, including urgent operational matters
Qualifications & Requirements
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Community Services, Disability, Management, or related field
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
* Working with Children Check (if applicable)
* Current Driver's Licence
* Current First Aid & CPR
Employment Conditions
* Part-time employment
* Remuneration aligned with the SCHADS Award, starting at Level 5.3 with progression to Level 6 or above
* On-call allowances paid separately in accordance with policy and the Award
* 90-day probation period applies
