With the implementation of the new EBA providing competitive wages and paid education time, there is no better time to work in Tasmania.We are a regional hospital with a brand new and exciting Paediatric short stay unit; as well as a 34 bed General Paediatric ward, 12 bed Level 2 neonatal nursery and Paediatric outpatients. The unit is staffed 24 hours a day by registrars and HMO staff, with consultant oversight on site during working hours, and on call overnight. The current staffing is 9 registrars/ HMO, a Senior Registrar and 7 paediatric consultants.We pride ourselves on being a lovely supportive team and you will be very well supported in this position. The unit has an active education program and is accredited by the RACP for Advanced Training for General Paediatrics with a Perinatal Component, Community/ Developmental Paediatrics and Rural rotations. We are also a secondment site for basic trainees from the Royal Hobart Hospital, and if you are early in your career, this position will be a good springboard to gain experience prior to entering the RACP training program.The Role:General Paediatrics, including ward and Emergency department presentations. Short stay unit on the ward.Neonatal ward - babies from 32 weeks gestational age, 1500 deliveries annuallyPaediatric outpatients, with both medical and developmental patient load, as well as an Ambulatory care unit within paediatric outpatients.You will be rostered to all of these areas on a rotating basis.Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.Why Tasmania:The Department of Health Tasmania oversees various hospitals across the state, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital, Northwest Regional Hospital, and Mersey Community Hospital, as well as district hospitals and ambulance services.
