Details: The Directorate delivers a wide range of justice and community safety services within the ACT and seeks to maintain a safe, just and resilient community in the ACT.
The ACT Justice and Community Safety Directorate is seeking candidates for the position of Deputy Director-General Justice.
The Deputy Director-General is accountable for overseeing delivery of key government, ministerial and directorate priorities, and providing high level leadership, strategy and policy advice across the justice portfolio. The role is also a key member of the Directorate's senior executive leadership team.
Operating under broad direction, the Deputy Director-General Justice will:
* Provide influential and highly strategic policy advice to the Director-General and Government on portfolio matters including law reform and delivery of legal services to Government.
* Lead, inspire, support and oversight leaders delivering complex and multi-disciplinary functions, programs and operations that directly impact the community such as the Legal Policy and Programs division.
* Determine and directly/indirectly manage the people, financial, physical and other resources within the portfolio, including demonstration of effective accountability, compliance with legislative and policy requirements, and alignment with contemporary best practice.
The Deputy Director-General will also lead the Directorate's work on legislation development and reform, provide organisational stewardship to the Directorate executive team and collaborate across government and with a variety of stakeholders.

Legal qualifications are highly desirable. This position requires a National Criminal History Check.
To be a strong contender, you will need to have an outstanding record of achievement as a senior executive in a large, complex, politically sensitive, and operationally diverse organisation. You will also have a proven record of achievement in contributing to and influencing key policy decisions and providing timely and robust advice on a range of portfolio/service-wide issues. Your well-honed representational and stakeholder management skills, sound judgement and collegiate approach will be complemented by an interpersonal style that engenders trust and respect. Legal qualifications are desirable.
Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $431,834 - $445,191 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $381,630.
Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based long-term contract for a period of up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
