Millbrook Montessori is preparing to open a beautiful early education centre within the heritage-listed Millbrook House in Toowoomba. We are seeking a passionate Early Education Cook/Chef to help shape a quality, nutritious and child-centred food culture from the very beginning.
About the Role
* Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced meals for children aged six weeks to school age.
* Cater for a variety of dietary needs, cultural preferences and allergies with care and diligence.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming kitchen environment in line with food safety and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with educators to align menus with learning experiences, seasonal produce and children's interests.
* Collaborate with educators to create opportunities for children to safely engage in food preparation and practical life experiences, building confidence, independence and a love of food.
About You
* Committed and knowledgeable about nutrition, health and wellbeing and dietary needs of young children
* Creative in designing menus that children love, using fresh, seasonal, whole foods.
* Qualified with a Certificate III or above in Commercial Cookery
* Certified with Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
* In possession of a current Working with Children Check "Blue Card"
* Certified with First Aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training (or willing to obtain)
* Organised, proactive and able to manage a kitchen independently (menus, cooking, stock ordering and control, safety and cleanliness).
* Passionate about Montessori principles - or excited to learn about them.
Previous experience in early education kitchens is highly regarded but not essential.
