About the Role
The Specialist Finance Business Partner will be responsible for coordinating budgeting and forecasting activities, communicating asset objectives, and delivering financial insights to stakeholders.
The role requires strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of the construction industry and management accounting principles, and the ability to influence and drive financial performance from a strategic perspective.
Responsibilities Serve as key contact in the coordination for budgeting/forecasting/loading into PRIME (WFP, Overheads, Work Management and mine plans)
Communicate the Asset objective and context to budget owners by preparing presentations and delivering it to the various departments
Coordinate site inputs, ensuring timely and accurate submission into PRIME, validated for completeness and reasonableness
Perform in-depth financial analysis and benchmarking to identify cost gaps and recommend efficiency improvements
Respond to the needs of site stakeholders with ad hoc forecasting, reporting, analysis and testing of strategic hypotheses
Conduct detailed analysis/benchmarks to understand gaps and provide the budget owners with sound recommendations on driving operational efficiency
Drive process improvements by streamlining finance-related workflows and enhancing data quality, usage, and presentation
Represent and advocate for the Budgeting & Forecasting system and act as subject matter expert on B&F for the operation
Act as custodian of the asset's B&F system health by encouraging team members to raise incidents and report any anomalies or unexpected performance
Serve as point of escalation for other team members where they are not getting traction resolving B&F issues
Serve as subject matter expert to draw upon where knowledge gaps exist, while not being responsible for training all users of the system
Ensure the accuracy of key cost drivers (e.g., diesel burn rates, powder factor, labour rates, etc.)
Support the health of the System of Cost Control and cost discipline at operations, including:
Participating in site reviews and providing financial insights during operational performance meetings
Leading the month-end process for the operation, including preparation of commentary, posting of ad hoc journals, and coordination of activities with the GBS team, and providing in-depth analysis to understand variances and identify necessary corrective actions
Executing Field Leadership activities to improve operational safety
Embed all BOS practices and partner with the operational and functional stakeholders to continuously improve the cost base of the asset
Deliver financial acumen training to operations/functions
Act as L3 and L5 approver for WAVO initiatives
Engage the capabilities of the entire organisation to enable problem solving, alignment, removal of duplication of work and ensuring correct accountabilities
Ingrain BOS in all activities
Foster and support a values-driven Finance culture, promoting psychological safety, collaboration and wellbeing through initiatives that support both physical and mental wellness About You Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CA (Chartered Accountant) license is required
Experience in finance business partnering, including providing strategic financial insights and collaborating with operational teams
Experience in mining industry is preferred but not required
Ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver value
Demonstrate capability to create a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and delivery of value-add results
Enthusiastic and confident with ability to motivate others and work autonomously
Good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, prioritise and problem solve
