Job Summary
We are seeking an EHS Specialist to inspect and evaluate the workplace, equipment, and practices for adherence to environmental, safety, and health programs and government regulations. The Specialist will foster a safety‐first culture, facilitate ownership of a safe work environment, and provide collaborative support across all levels.
Responsibilities
* Instill a safety‐first mentality and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost‐time injuries.
* Perform incident investigations, root‐cause analysis, and assist with corrective actions.
* Provide or coordinate safety training as required and lead toolbox talks on relevant EHS topics.
* Develop and maintain safety, health, and environmental record‐keeping and reporting system.
* Support development and implementation of leading and lagging indicators to capture corrective actions, workplace inspections, process improvements, employee observations, incidents, injuries, and near‐misses.
* Assist site working groups in developing Safe Work Procedures, task hazard analyses, safe work method statements, and other risk assessments.
* Coach, mentor, and advise the workforce to promote a safe culture.
* Conduct and document periodic workplace inspections to identify hazardous conditions and regulatory non‐compliance.
* Work with relevant groups to resolve identified issues.
* Keep abreast of pending regulatory developments; advise on risk management policies and procedures.
* Coordinate with external vendors for site visits, equipment inspections, waste removal, and surveys.
* Develop plans, procedures, and policies to continuously improve the EHS program.
* Assist with implementation of the Health and Safety Representative (HSR) program.
Requirements
* Minimum Essential Diploma in safety or related field, or equivalent.
* 1–3 years' experience in occupational safety.
* Working knowledge of the Australian Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
* Desirable Bachelor's Degree in safety or related field, or equivalent Certificate IV – Workplace Training and Assessment.
* Minimum Essential Driver's License.
* Desirable Construction Induction – White Card, Working at Heights, High‐Risk Work Licence(s), ICAM – Investigation and Incident Cause Analysis Method training.
* Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and the public.
* Physical ability to lift up to 10kg independently; frequent walking, sitting, handling, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; occasional standing.
