We're seeking a Senior Media Adviser to join our Governance and Communication Branch, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping media strategies that support housing services for Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families.
Role Overview As the Senior Media Adviser, you'll report to the Communication and Media Portfolio Manager and work with autonomy to: Develop and implement media activities aligned with our Corporate Communication and Media Strategies.
Manage media relations, build relationships with media outlets, and create engaging content for multiple channels, including social media.
Respond to media enquiries, identify risks, and protect our reputation.
Support media events, sponsorships, and campaigns to engage key audiences.
Lead media monitoring and manage the media mailbox.
Key Responsibilities Write and edit high-quality media materials, such as releases, statements, and social media posts.
Develop social media content to enhance our external brand and drive engagement.
Assist in managing risk, issues, and crisis-related activities.
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, including the Leadership team, internal business areas, and the Minister's Office.
What We're Looking For Qualifications or proven government experience in media management, journalism, social media, or events management.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
Proactive project management skills to handle multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment.
A current Baseline Security Clearance is required.
Location This position offers flexibility – while Canberra is preferred, other locations will be considered.
