Position/s: Meat Process Workers (Boning Room Packers/Chiller Operators/Offal Operators/Offal Packers)

Basis: Full Time

Salary: $71,550.00 - $85,000.00 pa plus superannuation
Location: Gundagai, NSW 2722

GMP is a progressive meat processing business owned and operated by the Barton family in regional New South Wales, Australia. The plant is conveniently located halfway between Sydney and Melbourne on the Hume Highway in the beautiful foothills of the Snowy Mountains which is a prime lamb growing region. GMP has long been committed to the region and its people, innovation, and the meat processing industry. The business has recently completed an exciting expansion project to increase annual production capacity, export certification, and increased automation. With the plant's increased capacity and the spring lamb flush, we are seeing sustainable increased numbers flow through the plant - now's the time to join the team!

We are seeking to fill various positions within our business with skilled Meat Process Workers (Boning Room Packers/Chiller Operators/Offal Operators/Offal Packers). All positions at GMP require adherence to quality assurance standards and workplace health and safety as first priority.

Key Responsibilities:

Chiller Operator

· Chiller operator manages the carcasses that enter the chiller system through the infeed chain from the lamb floor.

· Manage the carcasses movements throughout the chiller system from when the carcasses enter the chiller system from the lamb floor to when they are selected for the boning room.

· Ensure carcasses are segregated by IMF scores and customer specifications i.e. Coles, Hewitts and Gundagai Lamb.

· Ensure all EU and Organic carcass are separated from other carcasses not meeting these market requirements.

· Ensure all chiller rails designated for EU carcass are appropriately labelled.

· Ensure all local carcasses are stored separately to other customers and are branded prior to leaving the chiller systems.

· Ensure chiller rails and chillers are operating efficiently, by observation and communication to in-feed chiller operators.

· Ensure chiller cleanliness is maintain to GMP standards i.e. operate floor scrubber.

· Chiller Operator to manage the chiller control panel to sort carcass to sort chiller rails.

Boning Room Packers

· Net and string meat products in accordance with daily cut plans

· Weigh and label all products in accordance with customer and market specifications

· Packing meat products into bags and cartons in accordance with daily cut plans

· In accordance with customer requirements, pack meat products in different formats of packaging i.e. vac pack, thermo pack and bulk pack etc.

· Operates machinery in accordance with SOP/WI

· Ensure equipment and work area cleanliness is maintained to GMP standards

Green Offal Operators

· Process and clean/strip casings of tripe

· Ensure raw tripe meets customer specifications

· Maintain accurate count and length of casing for green offal products i.e. tripe and runners

· Weigh and label products as per customer and market requirements

· Pack finished products into lined cartons (runners, spleens, tails etc.)

· Operates machinery in accordance with SOP/WI

· Ensure equipment and work area cleanliness is maintain to GMP standards

Red Offal Packers

· Inspect product for defects (liver fluck etc.) and remove and report defects

· Sort product to ensure correct labelling and packaging in accordance with customer and market specifications

· Weigh product and ensure correct weight is displayed on product label in accordance with customer and market specifications

· Pack red offal products (livers, hearts, kidneys, caul fat etc.)

· Operates machinery in accordance with SOP/WI

· Ensure equipment and work area cleanliness is maintain to GMP standards

Qualifications/Skills Required:

· Certificate 1 or Compulsory Secondary Education OR relevant work experience may substitute for formal qualifications

· Nine (9) months to two (2) years' previous relevant work experience in a meat processing environment, depending on qualifications held (if any)

· A commitment to working safely

· Good communication skills and the ability to get along with others in a multicultural environment

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
