The Role
Austrade is Australia's global trade and investment agency, connecting Australian businesses with the world and attracting foreign investment into Australia. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Procurement team as an Assistant Director, Procurement Governance and Compliance. This is an opportunity to contribute to Austrade's procurement governance and compliance functions with a focus on integrity, efficiency, and strategic supplier relationships.
Role responsibilities include delivering strategic procurement governance and supporting the delivery of procurement activities aligned with Austrade's objectives. You will contribute to the success of Austrade's global trade and investment initiatives and have the opportunity to influence procurement practices within a dynamic, purpose-driven government agency.
Responsibilities
* Provide proactive procurement and contract management advice and support to Austrade stakeholders; manage procurement activities; resolve service delivery bottlenecks with internal/external customers, suppliers, and stakeholders; identify and develop strategic supplier relationships to support business direction.
* Develop and oversee tendering and contract management processes, lead RFQ development, assist with draft contracts, support reviews of documentation, manage tender processes, respond to questions, and maintain probity measures.
* Offer expert advice on tender evaluation plans, contracts, and procurement strategy to ensure quality, compliance with legislation, regulations, policies and procedures, and value for money.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within Austrade; support development of others and ensure alignment with divisional objectives and management expectations.
* Assist in procurement strategy development, database maintenance, reporting, data interpretation, and decision-making support for business areas and management reporting.
* Foster a business partnering approach with key internal stakeholders to enable innovative procurement strategies and best practice principles.
* Support project delivery, risk management, performance reporting, and continuous improvement to meet client requirements.
* Participate in contract variation assessment, support tender documentation for high-risk/complex work, and participate in dispute resolution processes as defined in contracts.
* Develop and maintain contract management systems to ensure complete records of all contracts, including claims, variations, and extensions of time.
