Salary - Engineering Level C10 $71,041 to C7 $77,886 + AREM (6% of base salary) + annualised allowance W416 - $18,710

What We Are Looking For
We’re seeking a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with experience in fitting, welding, and machining to support the maintenance of Fraser Coast Regional Council’s mechanical assets. The ideal candidate will have experience in water and wastewater maintenance, a strong understanding of pumps, gearboxes, seals, and valves, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety are essential.
What Your Day Will Look Like
* Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on Council assets
* Record and report on asset condition and performance
* Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop resources
* Assist with maintenance planning and procedure updates
* Respond to urgent breakdowns as part of the on-call roster
* Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders
* Complete work orders, risk assessments, and reports

What You’ll Need For Success
* Trade qualifications in mechanical engineering (fitter / turner)
* White Card (or ability to attain before commencing)
* Current MR licence
* Recreational Marine licence (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
* As per competency framework within the Position Description

What’s Nice To Have
* Experience in maintenance of water and wastewater and reuse plant and equipment
* Knowledge and understanding of pumps, gearboxes, mechanical seals and valves
* Demonstrated literacy and numeracy skills
* A reliable, trustworthy, adaptable team player with a focus on safety
