OUTSIDE SCHOOL HOURS CARE

Position: Full-Time (12 Months)

Salary: $84896 + superannuation @12% + 6 weeks annual Leave loading

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced OSHC Assistant Director to lead our Outside School Hours Care program. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a welcoming and supportive school community dedicated to the holistic development of every child.

The OSHC Assistant Director is responsible for the daily management and delivery of a high-quality vacation, before and after school care program that reflects the values of Mother Teresa Catholic Primary School. The role involves leading a small team of educators, ensuring compliance with all regulatory frameworks, and creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children.


Key Responsibilities

* Oversee the planning and delivery of engaging, inclusive programs for children aged 5–12 years
* Ensure the OSHC service meets the National Quality Framework and all regulatory requirements
* Lead and support staff to provide a positive and nurturing environment
* Manage enrolments, attendance, and communication with families
* Ensure safe food handling, health, and safety practices are maintained
* Build and sustain strong relationships with children, families, and the wider school community
* Work collaboratively with school leadership to align with the school's mission and values


Success Criteria

* Diploma or working towards Diploma in Early Childhood Education (or ACECQA-approved equivalent)
* Previous experience in an OSHC or leadership role within an education and care service
* Strong knowledge of the NQF, My Time Our Place Framework, and regulatory compliance requirements
* Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
* Ability to foster a positive, faith-filled, and inclusive environment
* Current Working with Children Clearance (OCHRE Card), First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification

Position Description


Core Functions

1. Greeting families and maintaining positive relationships with parents and carers, including daily communication about children's progress and welfare.

2. Supervising children in the program and ensuring their safety, well-being, and engagement in activities.

3. Planning, preparing, and delivering a diverse range of after school activities and experiences,including academic support, physical recreation, and creative programs.

4. Supporting children with special needs and ensuring inclusivity in all activities.

5. Ensuring accurate documentation such as attendance, enrolments, confidential files, and learning assessments of children are maintained to required standards.

6. Coordinating and supervising staff rosters, managing staffing ratios, and contributing to staff meetings and professional development sessions.

7. Monitoring and maintaining compliance with National Quality Standards, ACECQA guidelines, and other relevant legislation.

8. Managing administrative tasks such as inventory, office equipment, and food service records.

9. Organising and leading special events and community experiences (e.g. Mothers Day).

10. Responding to first aid incidents and liaising with parents/carers regarding student health and wellbeing.

11. Conducting safety drills and ensuring staff adhere to National Regulations and legal obligations.

12. Supporting to resolve parental concerns and document noteworthy incidents.

13. Fostering team collaboration and participating in regular communication with the school community, outside agencies, and other stakeholders.

14. Ensuring student numbers according to budget commitments and managing expenses within budget.

15. Any other responsibilities given by the principal.


Work, Health and Safety

1. Ensure personal health and safety, and that of others in the workplace.

2. Comply with CENT's WHS policies and procedures at all times and where possible ensure your team's compliance.

3. Comply with any reasonable directions (such as safe work procedures, wearing personal protective equipment) given by management for health and safety purposes.

4. Report all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards immediately. Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults:

This position is for child-related work and as such, you must obtain and retain a Working with Children Check from Screening Assessment for Employment – Northern Territory (SAFE NT).
