We are proud to be one of the largest employers of First Nations people in the Australian Public Service, First Nations employees make up approximately 50% of our workforce.Biala Hostel - Located near Manly, Biala Hostel provides accommodation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls seeking to complete their high school education in Sydney. Biala offers positions for up to 11 students, who are supported by a team of Residential Youth Workers and Hostel Workers during school term time. In the school holidays periods students return to their families and the hostel is closed. In addition to attending school, the hostel supports students to participate in an extracurricular program designed to extend and enrich each girls learning.About the Residential Youth Worker:Residential Youth Worker are key in creating a home away from home environment for students. You will support the students during out of school hours, arrange and engage in creative, culturally rich programs and guide the students to build life-long skills and achieve their personal goals.Student services - Support students with routine school activities, including class preparation, provide transport to school/sport/medical appointments, homework and studies. Promote and safeguard the safety and welfare of students, adhering to AHL's child protection policyCommunity Engagement - Develop cooperative relationships with school teachers, parents and community members. Resolve complex issues to ensure a positive, culturally appropriate experience and quality stayCustomer service - Ensure that a clean, neat and welcoming environment is provided to all students. Liaise with the internal and external stakeholders to ensure students needs are attended toWork, Health and Safety - Perform all tasks in a manner which upholds AHL's commitment to safety of its staff and residents by adhering to relevant WHS practices.
