Desert Blue Connect is a leading not-for‑profit community organisation in Geraldton, Western Australia that offers specialist family violence response, emergency accommodation, primary prevention of family violence, rural support services and women's health. We offer a range of services across the Midwest for women, men and children. We are committed to supporting communities and people by providing quality service delivery, advocacy and prevention initiatives.
The Role
The Community Initiative team engages, educates and supports different sectors of the Geraldton community, particularly with relation to Women's Health and Family/Domestic Violence. This role will facilitate support groups for young mums, educate and assist young people navigating the transition to adulthood and help to promote Women's Health at multiple events and forums. In addition to being organized and pro‑active the successful applicant will need to enjoy meeting people, developing relationships and be confident in presenting information.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion, Education, Social Work or significant relevant experience
* Excellent communication and facilitation skills
* Demonstrated ability in building networks and engaging community stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently
* Knowledge of national and state frameworks which address gender-based violence
* Understanding of family and domestic violence, at risk groups and communities
* Familiarity with Respectful Relationships curriculums or similar.
