We have the unique opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems, with core values of Character, Commitment, and Connection.Join us in contributing to this significant mission in the energy sector!About The Team & The PositionAs a key member of the WEM (Wholesale Electricity Market) Operation Solutions team, the Senior Optimisation Developer will lead the development of real-time power system operation software solutions. Responsibilities include working with integration teams, engaging with subject matter experts and stakeholders, and supporting transition activities. The role also involves being the subject matter expert for ongoing support and enhancements of delivered software, and supporting critical programs and projects for the WA portfolio as needed.Position ResponsibilitiesLead engagement with SMEs and stakeholders to develop power system operation software, focusing on WEM dispatch solutions.Collaborate with Project Managers and Leads to deliver software solutions and coordinate with integration and development teams.Support production readiness activities and documentation.Manage Participant Interface Testing and Market Trials, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.Develop transition to support plans and materials in coordination with internal support teams.Act as SME for support and enhancements of Power Systems.Promote workplace health, safety, anti-discrimination, and compliance with relevant acts.Position RequirementsSkills & Experience:Proven experience in building/supporting algorithmic systems, preferably in energy or utilities sectors.Significant experience with linear programming or similar analytical development.Experience in .NET language and successful project delivery.Knowledge of power system/market operation or planning is preferable.Understanding of WA Govt's Energy Transformation Strategy (ETS) and WEM Reforms is advantageous.Strong stakeholder relations skills and ability to build trust.Experience in managing complex requirements and providing timely solutions.Analytical skills to handle complex issues, propose solutions, and execute effectively.Ability to develop technical documentation, reports, and deliver technical presentations.Education/Professional CertificationsTertiary/postgraduate qualifications in engineering, mathematics, science, IT, or related fields are desirable.BenefitsFlexible working arrangements including remote, part-time, and hybrid options.Opportunities for professional development, industry networking, and study assistance.Up to 4 days of volunteering leave annually.Wellness programs, discounted health insurance, gym perks, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP).Our ProcessAEMO values diversity and inclusivity.
