The Alfred Pathology Service (APS) is key to providing integrated and timely diagnostic capabilities as part of the largest public pathology laboratory network in Victoria.
Alfred Health supports the local community while addressing complex state-wide needs, including trauma, organ transplantation and HIV/AIDS diagnostics. APS conducts all pathology testing for multiple hospitals, offering a comprehensive range of services through five specialized units: Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, and Human Molecular Pathology.

Position Summary
The Laboratory Scientist in this role will be an active member of the Core Laboratory (Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Transfusion and limited Molecular Microbiology) across New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital laboratories. This position may also require rotations to the Prahran laboratory, especially for training and continuous professional development.
About You
Qualifications Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Science, Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Scientist) or equivalent is required.
Experience and Skills Required:
* Experience working in a multi-skilled laboratory i.e., Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Transfusion Laboratory.
* Previous experience with troubleshooting automated laboratory analysers.
* Demonstrated verbal, written communication and organisational skills.
* Computer proficiency and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Class C driver's license and willingness to travel to the various WH and Prahran sites as needed.
* Experience performing blood film morphology is highly desirable.
