The Opportunity
Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Mining Product Support – Truck team based in Wacol, Brisbane. This role focuses on providing expert support across all facets of fleet performance, working closely with the product OEM, regional branches, and customers. You will play a key role in identifying emerging product issues, leading technical investigations, and driving strategic improvements that enhance reliability and reduce equipment downtime for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor and analyse fleet performance to identify reliability trends and emerging equipment issues
2. Lead investigations into high-risk or fleet-wide product issues, escalating to the OEM where necessary
3. Support internal teams with resolving equipment issues and investigating component failures using root cause analysis and other analytical tools
4. Drive product improvement initiatives through national collaboration with Service, Parts, Reman, and Sales teams
To Succeed, You Will Need
1. Tertiary Mechanical Engineering Qualification
2. 3+ years' industry experience working with mobile machinery or heavy equipment
3. Proficiency in data analysis and problem solving
4. Experience with Hydraulic systems and Welded Structures is highly regarded
5. Industry experience in construction, mining, or earthmoving is advantageous
6. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and risk management skills
