As an ASX 20 global energy company, we're committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone. To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, "How can we?" (Even when others say, "We can't.") We're proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we've got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy. The difference isn't just thinking big – it's delivering on it too. As part of the team, you'll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It's no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is. What you'll do We are seeking a Process Control Engineer to support operations in Papua New Guinea (PNG). In this critical role, you will deliver process control solutions that help maximise production efficiency, optimise Fuel, Flare and Vent (FFV) management, and minimise plant downtime. You'll be part of a collaborative team committed to safety, sustainability and performance excellence. Key responsibilities include: Delivering process control engineering support to Santos' PNG operations. Improving base layer and advanced process control (APC) systems to increase production and reduce losses. Supporting real-time responses to plant production upsets and participating in incident investigations. Enhancing plant protection layers, including SIS, regulatory controls, HMI, and alarm systems. Maintaining and optimising APC platforms such as Honeywell Profit Suite and AspenTech DMC. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to scope and implement control system improvements and capital projects. Participating in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), SIL reviews and DCS/SIS lifecycle management. Assisting with commissioning activities and delivering control system documentation. What you'll bring: You'll bring strong technical capability, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for continuous improvement. Essential experience and qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent). Eligible for RPEQ or Chartered Engineer status. Proven industry experience, with at least 2 years in process control. Experience with DCS configuration (preferably Honeywell PKS and/or Experion). Proven ability to support process operations and optimise regulatory and advanced control systems. Skilled in developing control documentation and interpreting P&IDs, cause & effect diagrams, and logic diagrams. Familiarity with process simulation tools such as UniSim. Desirable: Chartered Engineer (achieved or in progress). Experience with AspenTech DMC, Honeywell Profit Suite, or Rockwell PLCs. TUV-certified Functional Safety Engineer. What you'll get: Here, you'll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don't shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow. At Santos, we're committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you'll play a role in this too. What you're part of: Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone And because it's not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation.
