We are looking for a full-time Electrical and Automation Engineer to join the Tassal team, based in Hobart, Tasmania.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that is essential in supporting our electrical engineering and operational technology functions. You'll be designing, integrating, and maintaining electrical and control systems across our Hatcheries, Processing Factories, and Farms—working across multiple species and operational environments.
You'll be solving real-world problems, collaborating with internal teams and external partners, and contributing to scalable, efficient, and resilient automation solutions that support Tassal's strategic goals.
In This Role You Will
* Design and execute medium to large electrical and automation projects across diverse infrastructure.
* Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3000 wiring standards and other relevant regulations.
* Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
* Integrate MES platforms such as Sepasoft and Ignition by Inductive Automation.
* Support industrial networking and protocols including Modbus, OPC UA, and Ethernet/IP.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure reliable system performance and continuous improvement.
* Apply your problem-solving mindset to fix issues and optimise systems.
* Travel occasionally across Tasmania and interstate as required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will need:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
* Certifications in industrial automation, PLC programming, or control systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider).
* Experience with SCADA, PLC, and HMI systems.
* Familiarity with AS/NZS 3000 wiring standards and compliance.
* Knowledge of MES platforms (e.g. Sepasoft, Ignition).
* Understanding of industrial networking and protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP).
* Enthusiastic, solutions-focused, and passionate about fixing things.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
