Urban Planning Expert
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in reviewing the National Capital Plan and undertaking amendment processes as required. This involves assisting with or leading strategic planning and policy initiatives to achieve desired outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake the process of amending the National Capital Plan, including research into contemporary planning approaches and development of planning and design policy to achieve desired outcomes.
* Assist with or lead other strategic planning and policy work in the context of legislation and government policy, including the preparation of strategic reviews and development control plans.
* Provide high-level planning and policy advice to stakeholders, including relevant government departments, within the context of relevant legislation and the National Capital Plan.
* Utilise well-developed stakeholder engagement skills to work with stakeholders, plan and undertake consultation activities, and represent the organisation at a range of forums.
* Manage consultants and contracts where arrangements are in place for a third party to provide specialist advice and services.
* Support senior leadership in the strategic, resource, and day-to-day performance management of the department.
* Participate as an effective member of the team, providing reasonable support to colleagues where appropriate and required.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
* Qualifications or significant experience in the field of urban planning or related discipline is mandatory.
* Ability to gain and maintain a security classification of Baseline is mandatory.
Desirable Experience
High-level skills, knowledge, and experience in urban planning, planning and design policy development, or similar would be an advantage.

* Highly developed capacity to research, investigate, analyze, and interpret relevant technical material.
* Demonstrated ability to manage resources, lead and motivate others, plan for results, and achieve high-quality outcomes.
* Excellent communication skills, including well-developed oral and written communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain sound internal and external stakeholder relationships.
* Understanding of the role and activities of the organisation.
