The Role
We are seeking a capable and people-focused HR Officer to join our team and support the full employee lifecycle across the organisation. This role combines hands-on HR administration with advisory and operational HR responsibilities, supporting leaders and employees across a growing and diverse workforce.
Reporting to senior management, the HR Officer will play a key role in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance with NDIS and employment legislation, and the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and is ready to step into a broader HR role within a supportive and values-driven organisation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
HR Operations & Administration
* Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including contracts, compliance documentation, certifications, and leave records
* Manage and improve HR systems and databases (HRIS), ensuring data accuracy and compliance
* Prepare HR reports, workforce metrics, and documentation for management
Recruitment & Onboarding
* Coordinate end-to-end recruitment and selection processes
* Draft, publish, and manage job advertisements
* Screen applications, coordinate interviews, and communicate with candidates
* Manage onboarding and induction processes, including NDIS compliance requirements
* Develop and maintain onboarding and training materials
Employee Relations & Advisory Support
* Act as a first point of contact for employee HR enquiries regarding policies, entitlements, and workplace matters
* Support performance management, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations, including meeting coordination and documentation
* Provide advice to management on appropriate HR practices, policies, and procedures
* Identify and escalate workforce risks, wellbeing concerns, or compliance issues
Compliance & Best Practice
* Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, Modern Awards, and NDIS Quality & Safeguards requirements
* Monitor employee screening, mandatory training, and credential currency
* Assist with internal audits, accreditation preparation, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Support the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures
Payroll & Workforce Support
* Prepare and validate payroll-related data (e.g. hours worked, employment changes, allowances)
* Liaise with payroll providers and managers to resolve discrepancies
* Support workforce planning and resource needs across services
About You
You are a confident and approachable HR professional who enjoys balancing operational work with employee support and advisory responsibilities. You are organised, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Essential Requirements:
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
* Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module and Induction Module
* Sound understanding of confidentiality and ethical HR practice
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to raise concerns, provide feedback, and escalate issues appropriately
Experience & Skills:
* Demonstrated experience in an HR Officer, HR Advisor, or senior HR administration role
* Experience using HRIS and payroll systems (Xero highly regarded)
* High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft 365
* Knowledge of Fair Work legislation, Modern Awards, and employment standards
* Strong organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills
* Professional phone manner and ability to build rapport with staff at all levels
* Experience in the NDIS, disability, or community services sector is highly regarded
Qualifications:
* Certificate IV in Human Resources, Business, or similar (preferred)
