Responsibilities:
* Assist chef/cooks with the preparation of meals, including washing, peeling, chopping, and cooking ingredients.
* Portion food appropriately according to dietary guidelines and resident needs.
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
* Clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and floors in accordance with health and safety standards and always following the food safety program.
* Dispose of waste properly and ensure garbage bins are emptied regularly.
* Assist in the plating and serving of meals to residents, ensuring portions are correct and visually appealing.
* Support the service of meals during breakfast, lunch, and dinner times.
* Monitor and report any stock shortages or issues to the Kitchen Supervisor.
* Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and occupational health and safety regulations.
* Report any hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues to the Kitchen Supervisor.
* Assist in other kitchen-related tasks as required.
Requirements:
* Valid and current Police Certificate.
* COVID-19 vaccinations x 2 and current flu vaccination highly recommended.
* Demonstrated experience commercial kitchen, preferably in an aged care or healthcare setting.
* Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
* Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform manual handling tasks.
