The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Refractory Installation Bricklayer in our Refractory Service team based in Port Kembla. The team provides the development, sourcing, installation and delivery of refractory solutions to support operations now and into the future. The role involves safety, quality and reliability of refractory installations.
In this highly physical role, you’ll join an experienced team of refractory bricklayers and installers and contribute to the delivery of all refractory installation services, including safety, quality of materials, and reliability of installations. Current work pattern: Monday to Friday, 12-hour shifts, 4 on 4 off. Employee Well-Being Program and other company perks are available.
What Will You Do?
- Contribute to a safe working environment and uphold safety standards at all times
- Reline ladles and vessels for iron and steel making using bricklaying and other refractory installation techniques
- Carry out refractory installation and repairs of blast furnace troughs
- Spray refractory materials using gunning techniques
- Learn to operate forklifts and overhead cranes with internal and external training

- Certificate III in Bricklaying
- Commitment to safety of yourself and others
- High attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a highly physical environment
- Ability to work independently while contributing to the team’s success
- Developed communication skills and the ability to build constructive relationships
