Boab Metals Limited is progressing the development of the Sorby Hills Project, located 50 km northeast of Kununurra in the East Kimberley.
Sorby Hills is Australia's largest undeveloped near-surface lead–silver deposit, supported by granted mining leases, EPA approval, and proximity to established infrastructure, including Wyndham Port only 150 km away.
With permitting and infrastructure already in place, Sorby Hills is uniquely positioned for fast-track production.
Alongside Sorby Hills, Boab is actively exploring its 100%-owned Manbarrum and Eight Mile Creek prospects, strengthening our growth pipeline across the region.
The Position - Human Resources Advisor: Sorby Hills Project
Boab Metals Limited is seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resources Advisor to join the team in our Perth office, reporting to the Project Director.
This is a rare opportunity to lead the establishment of the HR function for the Sorby Hills Project.
The HR Advisor will be responsible for designing, implementing, and embedding all foundational HR systems, policies, and processes, ensuring the business has a robust and scalable HR framework from the outset.
Key roles and responsibilities
Develop strategic workforce plans, design the organisational structure, define roles, and create comprehensive job descriptions to align with business objectives.
Lead end-to-end recruitment processes, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, and onboarding of site and office staff.
Design and implement induction and onboarding programs to ensure a seamless, positive experience for all new employees.
Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and frameworks tailored to a start-up environment, ensuring compliance with legislation and alignment with organisational goals.
Establish and maintain HRIS systems and databases to manage workforce data, monitor HR metrics, and support decision-making.
Provide strategic and operational HR support to managers and staff, including performance management, employee engagement, and resolution of employee relations issues.
Support the design of remuneration structures, career development pathways, and learning & development initiatives.
Analyse HR metrics including recruitment, retention, and turnover, providing actionable insights and reports to inform business decisions.
Skills and Experience
Proven experience as an HR Advisor in start-up, project-based, or fast-paced environments, with the ability to deliver all foundational HR work within the contracted term.
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Law, Psychology, or a related discipline.
Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, modern awards, and HR best practices.
Experience in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and HRIS systems from the ground up.
Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to work independently and collaboratively while supporting strategic HR initiatives.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage conflict resolution and disciplinary processes.
Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of using HR data and insights to inform decisions.
Willingness to travel to project sites occasionally to embed HR practices and support the site team.
